Mobile phone boosters are illegal – don’t risk it
A mobile phone booster can:
- interfere with mobile networks signals
- weaken network performance for other users.
Using a mobile phone booster puts lives at risk, including your own.
View the rules for prohibiting mobile phone boosters in the Prohibition of Mobile Phone Boosters Declaration.
Serious penalties apply
The maximum penalty for owning or operating a mobile phone booster is a $660,000 fine.
If you are found to be causing significant interference to others, maximum penalties may include a $1,650,000 fine or 5 years prison.
Phone signal issues
If you have concerns about your phone signal or reception, you should contact your telco.
They will consider if any network issues are impacting your coverage. They may also discuss the best product for your needs.
In limited cases, your telco may give you permission to use a mobile repeater.
