Find out the rules telcos must follow
Industry rules – SMS Sender ID Register
The SMS Sender ID Register rules directly affect how telcos (carriage service providers, carriers and electronic messaging service providers) operate.
You must apply to participate in the SMS Sender ID Register if you intend to use or carry messages with sender IDs from 1 July 2026.
If you do not participate, you will not be permitted to carry SMS or MMS using sender IDs. Messages sent by non-participating telcos and message providers will be blocked. Unregistered sender IDs will be labelled ‘Unverified’.
There are also some rules that apply to all telcos.
