Targets for sports channels
Subscription TV licensees can spread their target between channels if the shows are supplied by the same channel provider. Each individual sports channel must caption at least two-thirds of the captioning target every financial year on each individual channel.
For example: For FY 2025–26, the captioning target for a sports channel is 70%. If a subscription TV licensee broadcasts 2 sports channels provided by the same channel provider:
- the amount of captioned content across both channels must average at least 70%
- each of the channels must caption at least two thirds of 70% (approximately 47%)
- one channel could be as high as 95%, with the second channel at 47%.
