Problems with the NBN

There are many organisations involved in the delivery of the NBN. It’s important to know who to talk to and your rights.

Who is responsible?

  • Service problems – contact the telco that provides your NBN plan about any service issues.
  • Speed issues – contact your telco if you’re not getting the speed advertised in your plan or if you need a faster service.
  • Issues with NBN equipment – contact your telco about damage to or problems with the location of NBN equipment.
  • Cabling work on existing phone and data cables – it is your responsibility to work with a registered cabler to get work done on your existing phone and data cables so your internet service can work.
Slow internet?

Sometimes things inside your home are the problem. Try our tips to fix slow internet services.

If a complaint can’t be resolved

If you have complained to your telco about your NBN service and you are not satisfied with the response, contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO).

Sometimes your telco will need to work with NBN to resolve your issue, and this might involve arranging for an NBN technician to contact or visit you.
