Enquiries and complaints

Of the 422 enquiries and complaints we received, 366 (87%) were valid complaints that we could investigate under the IGA.

Broken down over the quarter, we received 143 complaints and 18 enquiries in January; 113 complaints and 18 enquiries in February; and 110 complaints and 20 enquiries in March.

Investigations

We completed 25 investigations that involved 60 gambling sites. We found one or more breaches of the IGA in 23 investigations. There were 44 findings of breaches:

  • 22 for providing a prohibited interactive gambling service to Australian customers.
  • 21 for providing an unlicensed regulated interactive gambling service to Australian customers.
  • 1 for advertising a prohibited and/or unlicensed regulated interactive gambling service in Australia.

Enforcement and disruption action

We issued 13 formal warnings to providers:

  • Hollycorn N.V. for providing prohibited interactive gambling services (Retrobet)
  • Neptune Projects SRL for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (Vegastars)
  • NovaForge Ltd. for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (Cleobetra)
  • NovaForge Ltd. for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (Mafia Casino, Slotexo, Talismania, Tiki Casino)
  • NovaForge Ltd. for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (Viper Win)
  • Pulsup Ltd. for publishing designated interactive gambling service advertisements (Rocketplay.com.au)
  • Ryker B.V. for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (Jackbit, CasinOK)
  • Simba N.V. for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (Monsterwin)
  • Wonder Play Company N.V. for providing prohibited and unlicensed regulated interactive gambling services (BetWhale)

We reported 109 URLs to accredited family-friendly filter providers for inclusion in the sites blocked when the filters are installed.

Website blocking

We have continued website blocking of services found in breach of the IGA. The majority are casino-style services offering games like blackjack, roulette, poker, and slots. A number of the sites also provided wagering services without an Australian licence. It is an offence to provide or advertise these types of services to customers in Australia. 

We blocked the following 109 websites. These relate to illegal gambling services, and include alternate sites set up to evade the blocks:
