The ACMA monitors digital platforms’ activities under the voluntary Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation (the code) developed by the Digital Industry Group Inc. (DIGI). A key aspect of our oversight role is to promote and support transparency about the actions signatories take to meet their code commitments.
We report to the government on the adequacy and effectiveness of the code and the signatories’ reporting activities, and the broader impacts of disinformation and misinformation in Australia.
The fifth report, developed in October 2026, offers insights into key developments and data reported by signatories throughout 2025, including information on policies and approaches to artificial intelligence, content moderation and the 2025 Federal Election.
