Why is it important to buy compliant devices?
- Safety. Non-compliant devices may not meet safety standards. This could put you and others at risk.
- Interference. Non-compliant devices may also cause interference with other electronic devices. This can include mobile phones, GPS devices and emergency services equipment.
- Quality. Compliant devices are tested and certified to meet certain standards.
- Penalties. If you are found with a non-compliant device, maximum penalties may include a fine of up to $412,500 or 2 years prison. Penalties may also apply if you are found to be causing significant interference to others. Maximum penalties may include a fine of up to $1,375,000 or 5 years prison.
