Telemarketing and spam emails or SMS messages are an issue for many Australians. We protect the public by promoting and enforcing the law.

Our approach

We provide the Do Not Call Register (DNCR), promoting responsible industry practice and monitor and enforce compliance with the law.

Our activities depend on the risk of harm and the impact on consumers. We can:

  • provide compliance information to industry
  • contact businesses to warn them when we receive complaints
  • investigate serious or ongoing problems
  • take enforcement action where warranted

We rely on information from different sources, including complaints, reports, industry feedback and information from international regulators.
