Gambling advertising research

The ACMA has looked at trends in gambling advertising during live sport on TV, radio and streamed online.

The research was done to check if broadcasters are following the new gambling advertising restrictions. It also helps us in our new job to regulate online gambling ads.

Our research:

  • Looked at when gambling ads came on during live sport. We compared this before and after the new rules came in.
  • Asked for parents’ views on gambling ads.

The report was revised on 29 November 2019 to include updates to some references and the methodology.
