Frequency assignments for special event services in the broadcasting services bands

We want to publish a new Radiocommunications Assignment and Licensing Instruction (RALI) to introduce frequency assignment arrangements for radio services covering special events (SEs).

Closing in 25 days - 13 November 2026

Key documents

The issue

The proposed RALI BS01 will enable accredited persons (APs) to:

  • undertake frequency assignment coordination for SEs
  • apply for SE apparatus licences on behalf of prospective licensees.

The purpose of the RALI is to implement new frequency assignment arrangements for SE apparatus licence applications. This will expand on the established arrangements for APs to co-ordinate SE services in broadcasting services bands. It is similar to the assignment process for non-broadcasting services.

You can find full details of the proposed arrangements in the key documents section above.

We are aiming for the arrangements to commence early in 2027. We also plan to review the approach and consider improvements 12 months after implementation.
