The issue

We are proposing amendments to the Telecommunications (Customer Communications for Outages) Industry Standard 2024. The changes will require telcos to establish and publish a publicly available outage register covering major outages and significant local outages. It must be kept accurate and up to date for a period of 2 years.

The register would include key outage information such as:

  • start time
  • impacted areas
  • services affected
  • updates and resolution.

It will be published in a way that allows extraction for external analytical purposes.
