The applicant sought communications (from April 2024 to March 2025) between the ACMA and Foxtel in relation to an ACMA investigation into Foxtel for gambling advertising that appeared in an AFL match in April 2024, and a copy of the agreed measures report from Foxtel to the ACMA that outlined the steps it had taken to ensure the gambling ads it broadcasts have sufficient responsible gambling messages.
Sixteen documents were identified as being within the scope of the request. Two documents were released in full and 12 in part, subject to the redaction of information that was irrelevant or out of the scope of the request, and information that was exempt under section 47G of the FOI Act. The redactions were made in accordance with section 22 of the FOI Act. Two documents were exempt in full under section 47C of the FOI Act.
