Review of the 2.5 GHz band spectrum licence technical framework

After considering submissions, we have finished our review of the 2.5 GHz spectrum licence technical framework. We varied the following instrument:

• Radiocommunications Advisory Guidelines (Managing Interference from Spectrum Licensed Transmitters - 2.5 GHz Band) 2023.

We plan to work with 2.5 GHz spectrum licensees to update the relevant conditions on their licences. 

The 2.5 GHz band is an important band for wireless broadband services. However, aspects of the technical framework are not optimised for the use of advanced antenna systems and newer technologies such as 5G.

We want your feedback on proposed changes to the technical framework for 2.5 GHz band spectrum licences, including changes to in-band and unwanted emission limits, and advisory guidelines.

The proposed changes to the technical framework are detailed in the consultation paper in the key documents section.
