Outcome
Radiocommunications Station
We received 2 submissions to this consultation, which are available below. One submission included technical suggestions, grammatical changes, and comments about channel allocations for on board communications and public correspondence.
Comments regarding channel allocations will require further consideration outside of the sunsetting process.
After considering the submissions, we decided to make the following instruments with technical suggestions and minor grammatical changes:
- Radiocommunications Licence Conditions (Maritime Coast Licence) Determination 2025
- Radiocommunications (Maritime Ship Station) Class Licence 2025
We also decided to revoke the Radiocommunications – Maritime Omnibus Variation 2019 (No.1) and let the Radiocommunications Licence Conditions (Major Coast Receive) Determination 2015 sunset. The consultation feedback received supported the ACMA preliminary view that these instruments were no longer required.
We thank all of those involved in the consultation process.

Radiocommunications
Station
This consultation involves the 4 instruments below. You can find full details, including the reasoning for our proposals, in the consultation paper.
The Radiocommunications Licence Conditions (Major Coast Receive) Determination 2015 is due to sunset on 1 October 2025. We believe it is no longer needed and want to let it sunset.
The Radiocommunications Licence Conditions (Maritime Coast Licence) Determination 2015 is due to sunset on 1 October 2025. We believe the instrument is still needed and should be remade with minor changes.
The Radiocommunications (Maritime Ship Station – 27 MHz and VHF) Class Licence 2015 is due to sunset on 1 October 2025. We believe the instrument is still needed and should be remade with minor changes.
The Radiocommunications – Maritime Omnibus Variation 2019 (No.1) amended 4 instruments related to the VHF component of the maritime mobile band. We believe it is no longer needed and want to revoke it.
