Update (4 August 2025)
On 31 July 2025, we made the Variation to Licence Area Plan – Wangaratta Radio 2025 (No. 2).
This variation corrects minor errors made in the variation to the Wangaratta licence area plan in May 2025.
This includes correcting transmitter specifications for:
- the new infill transmitters for the 3NE service in Bright and Wodonga
- the transmitter specification for the 3NNN service at Bright.
The correct specifications were in the proposal released for consultation from December 2024 to January 2025. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Outcome
On 8 May 2025, we made the Variation to Licence Area Plan – Wangaratta Radio – 2025 (No. 1).
This involves making variations to radio broadcasting services in the Wangaratta RA1 licence area to enable the 3NE service to convert from AM to FM and to add 4 new FM infill transmitters in the area.
The proposed change to the technical specification for the 3NNN Wangaratta FM commercial radio transmitter will not proceed, with agreement from the broadcaster.
We received 3 submissions to the consultation. These are available at the bottom of this page.
Previous consultation: The issue
We want to vary the Wangaratta licence area plan (LAP). This will involve:
- Enabling the 3NE commercial radio broadcasting service in Wangaratta to convert from AM to FM.
- Making 4 new FM infill transmitters for the 3NE commercial radio broadcasting service in the Wangaratta RA1 licence area.
- Varying the technical specifications of the 3NNN Wangaratta FM commercial radio transmitter. This will mean it can co-locate with the proposed new 3NE FM transmitter.
- Varying the technical specification of the 3NNN Bright FM commercial radio transmitter to allow the AM to FM conversion of the 3NE Wangaratta transmitter.
- Making other minor amendments to the Wangaratta LAP.
