The ACMA has found that WIN Television Qld Pty Ltd breached captioning record-keeping requirements in relation to six episodes of Chicago Med broadcast in January 2026.
The ACMA investigated following a complaint about the program's captioning. During the investigation, WIN advised the ACMA that it was unable to provide recordings that accurately reflected the broadcasts because those records were no longer available.
As a result, the ACMA found that WIN failed to make and retain audio-visual records sufficient to allow compliance with captioning obligations to be readily ascertained for 90 days after the program was broadcast. This is a breach of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 and WIN’s licence conditions.
The ACMA is considering the appropriate regulatory response and will publish the outcome once it is finalised.
