The ACMA standard Telecommunications Technical Standard (Requirements for Customer Equipment with hierarchical digital interfaces - AS/ACIF S016) 2015 applies to customer equipment that has a hierarchical digital interface at 2,048 kbit/s, 8,448 kbit/s, 34,368 kbit/s or 139,264 kbit/s, and is designed, or intended, for connection to a telecommunications network.
The ACMA standard adopts the industry standard AS/ACIF S016 - Requirements for Customer Equipment for connection to hierarchical digital interfaces.
It is important to note that the applicable mandatory standard is the ACMA standard, not the industry standard to which it refers.
The ACMA standard is available from the ComLaw website.
A combined explanatory statement for all ACMA telecommunications technical standards made under section 376 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 is available.
All industry standards are available in hard copy from SAI Global. Current and superseded AS/ACIF or AS/CA industry standards are available to download in pdf format from the Communications Alliance website.
The following ACMA Standards have been revoked, however remain available on the ComLaw website:
- Telecommunications Technical Standard (General Requirements for Customer Equipment Connected to Hierarchical Digital Interfaces – ACA TS016-1997); and
- Telecommunications Technical Standard (Requirements for Customer Equipment with hierarchical digital interfaces - AS/ACIF S016) 2002.
