Proposed digital radio channel plan and foundation digital radio multiplex transmitter licence declaration for Mandurah, WA

367 kB

Executive summary

The ACMA is proposing to vary the Radiocommunications (Digital Radio Channels – Western Australia) Plan 2007. This legislative instrument contains the digital radio channel plan (DRCP) for the Perth RA1 licence area. The proposed variation will insert a new DRCP to allot and reserve frequency blocks, and determine licence types and the technical specifications for digital radio services in the Mandurah RA1 licence area.

In accordance with section 98C of the Radiocommunications Act 1992, the ACMA may make a declaration that a specified category 1 digital radio multiplex transmitter (DRMT) licence that is proposed to be issued is a ‘foundation’ DRMT licence for the purposes of the Act. In effect, the issue of a foundation DRMT licence involves a one-off offer to incumbent broadcast licensees to apply for a licence through a joint venture company. The ACMA proposes to make such a declaration for the proposed category 1 DRMT licence for Mandarah RA1.

Issue for comment

The ACMA welcomes comments from stakeholders on the proposal to make the digital radio channel plan and declaring a foundation digital radio multiplex transmitter licence for the Mandurah RA1 licence area.
