Conditional access schemes

Under Part 9C of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (the Act), broadcasters are required to develop conditional access schemes governing access to commercial digital television broadcasting service via satellite (Viewer Access Satellite Television services), as licensed under section 38C of the Act.

Section 130ZE of the Act requires the Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) to maintain a register of these conditional access schemes, one for each section 38C licence area: Southern Australia TV3, Northern Australia TV3 and Western Australia TV3.

Under section 130ZEA of the Act, the ACMA must also maintain a register of designated digital service days for Category D reception areas in the Western Australia TV3 licence area.
