Changes to amateur radio qualifications

A new Deed of Agreement is now in place with the University of Tasmania—through its institute the Australian Maritime College (AMC)—to deliver amateur radio examinations, issue amateur certificates of proficiency and for related callsign management. The ACMA selected the AMC following an open tender process on AusTender (approach to market reference 18ACMA148).

To enable the AMC to perform the required statutory functions and associated administrative services under the Deed, the ACMA has made instruments under the Radiocommunications Act 1992 and approved various forms and documents to facilitate service provision.

This includes approval for the University of Tasmania to charge fees to conduct examinations. The examination fees must comply with the Australian Government Charging Framework and are subject to periodic review by the ACMA.
