Summary

The ACMA is consulting on a proposal to amend the Radiocommunications (Aircraft and Aeronautical Mobile Stations) Class Licence 2016. This instrument authorises the operation of an aircraft station or aeronautical mobile station. It requires that certain conditions are met, including that operators are relevantly qualified in accordance with legislation administered by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

The ACMA was recently advised that the references to the legislation administered by CASA relating to qualified persons are too narrow and do not reference all of the legislation that CASA administers under which persons are qualified to operate such stations.

The ACMA is of the view that such an anomaly should be amended by way of the Radiocommunications (Aircraft and Aeronautical Mobile Stations) Class Licence Variation 2018 (No. 1).
