Terence Smith from Mississippi Consulting Pty Ltd 41 months ago Mississippi Consulting raises two issues here, whether or not they are regulatory in nature is perhaps uncertain. The first relates to IoT. In many papers written on IoT, particularly reports on case studies, one issue comes up regularly, viz. the need for network interface standards for connecting sensor, and other devices, to a control centre collecting data in a vertical network. Several authors have stated that there needs to be significant standards development if IoT is to develop in the way the hype is suggesting. One example is, Andreev, S. Galinina, O. Pyattaev, et al. “Understanding the IoT connectivity landscape: a contemporary M2M radio technology roadmap”, Volume 53, Issue 9. IEEE Communication Magazine 2015. The second harps back to the comment regarding the ACMA’s view on the use of above 6 GHz spectrum for 5G. Ofcom and the FCC have consulted with industry on this spectrum, surely it is time for the ACMA to follow suit.
