Proposed amendment to the Radiocommunications Interpretation Determination - consultation 15/2021

The Radiocommunications Legislation Amendment (Reform and Modernisation) Act 2020 changes the parts of the Radiocommunications Act 1992 under which some instruments have been made. We want to amend the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2015 so that it continues to apply to these instruments.

The issue

UPDATE: The closing date for this consultation has been extended from 10 May 2021 to 17 May 2021.

We are consulting on a draft legislative instrument – the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Amendment Determination 2021.

This instrument, if made, will update the Radiocommunications (Interpretation) Determination 2015 (Interpretation Determination). It will reflect changes to the parts of the Radiocommunications Act 1992 under which some existing instruments have been made.

This includes, for example, licence condition determinations, labelling notices and standards. The changes will make sure definitions within the Interpretation Determination continue to apply to the relevant instruments after the commencement of the Radiocommunications Legislation Amendment (Reform and Modernisation) Act 2020 on 17 June 2021.

These amendments are minor and will have no further impact on radiocommunications regulatory arrangements.
