The ACMA’s Mobile-only Australia: living without a fixed line at home interactive report looks at the take-up of mobile devices by Australian adults over the last 6 years. It includes voice and internet use by those without a fixed line or connection at home.
Updated data for the 12 months to June 2020 shows the trend in people shifting from fixed to mobile communications is continuing. The data shows:
- 60% of Australians are mobile-only for voice calls at home (with a mobile but no landline). This is up from 29% in 2015.
- 16% of Australians are accessing the internet at home via a mobile network. This has remained stable over the last few years.
This report is part of the ACMA’s research program which helps us to better understand consumer use of devices to access communication services.
