Coordinated enforcement of telecomms code
The ACMA and the telecommunications compliance body Communications Compliance (CommCom) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which details how they cooperate to enforce the Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code (TCP Code).
The MOU sets out a coordinated approach to the compliance work required under the revised TCP Code. The MOU is aimed at ensuring efficient and effective interaction between the ACMA and CommCom to avoid duplication of effort and, in particular, to identify industry-wide systemic issues.
Compliance reports from CommCom assist and inform the ACMA's telecommunications enforcement work. As previously advised, the ACMA has increased resources devoted to investigations and enforcement.
The ACMA and CommCom recently celebrated 3 years of successfully working cooperatively in regulating the telecommunications industry and look forward to continuing to protect consumers together.
