The Broadcasting Services Act 1992 distinguishes between the primary service provided by a commercial television broadcasting licensee and the other (non-primary) multi-channeled commercial television broadcasting services channels provided under the licence.
Declaration of Primary Services
In 2010, the ACMA made the Broadcasting Services (Primary Commercial Television Broadcasting Service) Declaration 2010, which declares a primary service for commercial television broadcasting licences in each licensed area. The primary services are set out in Schedules 1 and 3 of the Declaration.
Information on television broadcasting content regulation and the obligations that flow from the declaration of a primary service for a commercial television broadcasting licence is available on the ACMA website.
