Executive summary

Television Program Standard 23 - Australian Content in Advertising (the Standard) is a legislative instrument that applies to commercial television broadcasting licensees.

Like most legislative instruments, the Standard ‘sunsets’ (that is, is automatically repealed) on the 1 April (or 1 October) that first occurs 10 years after it was registered. In this case, the sunset date is 1 April 2019.

The ACMA proposes to remake the instrument prior to the sunset date, without any significant changes, so that its ongoing effect is preserved.

Issue for comment

Comments are sought from the public regarding the ACMA’s proposal to remake the legislative instrument.
