The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) five-category compliance approach provides transparency to the industry on the process taken when dealing with breaches of the Telecommunications code.

Most compliance activity occurs in the informal, early stages focusing on education and industry self-regulation.

Later categories involve using the ACMA’s legislative powers, and serious matters are considered on a case by case basis.
