Brisbane-based website design business, ACRIS Services, has been given a formal warning for sending marketing emails without the consent of the recipients.
An Australian Communications and Media Authority investigation found ACRIS Services had sent 17 emails promoting its website optimisation and design solutions to people who had no previous relationship with the company and had not consented to receive its marketing emails.
The ACMA had written to ACRIS Services about its Spam Act obligations on numerous occasions, prior to commencing its investigation.
If you receive a marketing email that you think may not comply with the Spam Act, you can report it to the ACMA by forwarding the message to firstname.lastname@example.org.
