Proposed LAP variations

The ACMA has made a preliminary view that making the following variations to the Sale and Remote Central and Eastern Australia Radio Licence Area Plans (LAPs) will promote the objects of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, including the economic and efficient use of radiofrequency spectrum, by improving the coverage and reception of radio services in the licence areas.

The ACMA is seeking public comment on the proposed radio LAP variations, which are:

  • In the Sale radio LAP:
    • to make spectrum available for the provision of an FM infill transmitter at Bairnsdale for the AM commercial broadcasting service 3GV
    • to make minor amendments to update schedules and various attachments.
  • In the Remote Eastern and Central Australia radio LAP—to re-consult on making spectrum available for the provision of FM infill transmitters at Bocoble for the FM commercial broadcasting services 4BRZ and 4RBL.

A draft variation to the LAP instrument and a consultation paper detailing the proposals are available in the ‘Downloads’ box above.

Once the draft has been finalised, the varied LAP is published under Final licence area plans on the ACMA website.
