Issue for comment

The ACMA is seeking comment from interested stakeholders on draft updates to the following Radiocommunications Assignment and Licensing Instructions (RALIs):

  • RALI LM 2—Paging Services;
  • RALI MS 42—Frequency Plan for the VHF Bands 70–87.5 MHz and 148–174 MHz.

The proposed update to RALI LM 2 follows an industry request for a review of arrangements for regional and interior paging services in the VHF paging band 148.00–149.25 MHz.  The proposed updates provide greater access for regional paging services and interior paging services on a primary service basis within the VHF paging band

The proposed updates to RALI MS42 are intended to incorporate changes to paging services, provide additional flexibility by allowing outside of high spectrum demand areas, segments G and V to also be used for low power two frequency land mobile systems, and provide additional flexibility by allowing in low and remote areas, the use of trunking segments for non-trunked spectrally efficient technologies.

A copy of the existing RALI MS42 is available from the Frequency assignment requirements section of the ACMA website.
