Optimal conditions for effective self‑ & co‑regulatory arrangements: Updated edition

Overview

This is an update to the first edition of Optimal conditions for effective self- and co-regulatory arrangements, published in June 2010. It considers the conditions that are likely to lead to effective and efficient regulation, particularly in relation to industry self- and co-regulatory arrangements in which the ACMA has a role.

It builds on the 2010 paper by adding two new conditions to the ACMA's 'optimal conditions' framework for assessing self- and co-regulatory arrangements. It discusses the challenges and opportunities of convergence for self- and co-regulation, and sets out case studies that illustrate the ACMA's assessment framework and lessons learnt.
