Experts explain the spectrum auction process

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) recently hosted the first events in its digital dividend auction workshop series. Presentations given at these events are available on this page.

Held in Sydney and Melbourne on 13 and 23 January 2012, the workshops featured presentations by Professor Peter Cramton, Project Co-Director and Senior Auction Expert at Power Auctions, which is providing the ACMA with auction design and rules advice. Professor Cramton travelled from the US to present at the ACMA’s workshops.

Attendees asked Professor Cramton questions on aspects of the combinatorial clock auction (CCA) methodology and described Professor Cramton’s presentations, which included many diagram representations and examples on the operation of the CCA, as engaging and helpful in increasing their understanding of how the auction will work.

The workshop also featured presentations from Rebecca Burdon, the ACMA’s principal economist, and Jane Cole, manager of the ACMA team coordinating the auction.

You can view the presentations from the day below.
