Before Christmas, the ACMA released its
Guide to the 2012 current affairs disclosure
standard-For the commercial radio industry.
The guide talks about the rules surrounding
on-air disclosure during current affairs and
talkback programs as well as advising licensees
what commercial agreement details should be
published in their online registers. It encourages
commercial radio stations to understand their
disclosure obligations and to keep up industry-wide
compliance with the standard.
The guide's aim is to educate station managers,
program producers and compliance officers working
in commercial radio, especially those making
current affairs and talkback programs. These key
industry players are urged to get to know the guide

the ACMA if they have any outstanding issues or
The Broadcasting Services (Commercial Radio
Current Affairs Disclosure) Standard 2012 came into
effect on 1 May 2012 after a comprehensive review
of the commercial radio standards.
