Disclosure guide for industry

By Editor

Before Christmas, the ACMA released its Guide to the 2012 current affairs disclosure standard-For the commercial radio industry.

The guide talks about the rules surrounding on-air disclosure during current affairs and talkback programs as well as advising licensees what commercial agreement details should be published in their online registers. It encourages commercial radio stations to understand their disclosure obligations and to keep up industry-wide compliance with the standard.

The guide's aim is to educate station managers, program producers and compliance officers working in commercial radio, especially those making current affairs and talkback programs. These key industry players are urged to get to know the guide and contact the Broadcasting Standards Section of the ACMA if they have any outstanding issues or concerns.

The Broadcasting Services (Commercial Radio Current Affairs Disclosure) Standard 2012 came into effect on 1 May 2012 after a comprehensive review of the commercial radio standards.

Contact the Broadcasting Standards Section for copies of the guide.
