Directory assistance & associated services
All providers of a standard telephone service must provide directory assistance services to their customers. Basic directory assistance allows a caller to obtain the telephone number of a person or business.

Common Directory assistance numbers include:
national directory assistance service—dial 1223 (basic service provided by automated speech recognition)
national directory assistance service—dial 1224* or 124937* (operator assists in providing a search service)
international numbers—dial 1225
call connect operator-assisted—dial 12455* and 12456* (operator providers a search service and connects the call)
directory assistance for person with a disability or special need—dial 12551
