Australian equivalents to overseas amateur qualifications - Table A

This table primarily reflects the Australian apparatus licensing options that would be applicable to persons visiting Australia holding specified overseas certificates or licences.

Reciprocal agreements, in respect of Australia's current certificate and licensing arrangements, are yet to be negotiated for Australian amateurs visiting overseas countries. The previous licensing options have been left in the table below to provide a guide as to what licence Australian amateurs visiting overseas countries may be eligible for.

Note: The ACMA is reviewing the equivalence of a US general class operator licence to an Australian advanced amateur licence.  Applications for advanced amateur licences, or for transfers of such licences, received by the ACMA after 26 April 2017, and applications for amateur certificates of proficiency or callsign recommendations received by the WIA after 26 April 2017, made on the basis of the equivalence of a US general class operator licence to an Australian advanced amateur licence may be affected by the outcomes of this review.  Any person considering making such an application is invited to make submissions to the ACMA on whether a US general class operator licence ought to continue to be treated as equivalent to an Australian advanced amateur licence.

Note: The equivalent USA/Australian licences in this table have been amended.  This amendment shows that the USA Technician Class licence is now equivalent to the Australian Foundation class licence.
