Connected citizens

As part of a continuing discussion series about communications and media regulation, the ACMA’s research paper Connected citizens—Regulatory strategies for a networked society and information economy examines how regulatory practice can be adapted to deal with 21st century challenges of a networked economy and society.

The ACMA has also released a companion paper, Broken Concepts—A 2013 update on the Australian communications legislative landscape . This 2013 update identifies the continuing pressure on regulatory arrangements occurring from ongoing innovation and changing citizen use of communications and media.  It identifies an additional 10 regulatory concepts on top of the original 55 identified earlier in 2011 that are now under pressure in the communications and media regulatory framework.
