Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, Minister for Communications and the Arts, will be the keynote speaker at the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s up-coming conference on the challenges—and opportunities—facing our local screen content industry.

He will be joined by speakers from all the major TV networks, key local production houses, online content providers Google and YouTube, and Australian and international government representatives.

They include:

  • ABC managing director Michelle Guthrie
  • YouTube Australia/New Zealand’s Andrew Peterson
  • Screen Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, Fiona Cameron, and deputy Chair Megan Brownlow
  • Matthew Deaner, CEO of Screen Producers Australia
  • Pearl Tan, director of Pearly Productions, which creates independent films with a focus on diversity

‘The quality and diversity reflected in our speaker line-up underlines our belief that it’s time for the ACMA to convene an in depth discussion about the challenges and changes facing the Australian screen content sector,’ said acting ACMA Chairman, Richard Bean.

‘The conference is structured to be as open and dynamic as possible—a real conversation—so will provide an excellent opportunity for delegates and speakers to share thoughts, comments—and concerns,’ he added.

The Australian content conversation event will be held 16-17 May at Sydney’s new International Convention Centre. More information about the speaker line-up, program and how to register is available here.
