2300–2302 MHz band reallocation—have your say

We're proposing to reallocate spectrum in the 2300-2302 MHz band for spectrum licensing and would like to hear from interested stakeholders.

These spectrum licences will expire on 24 July 2015. The lead-up to licence expiry provides an opportunity to review licensing arrangements in the band to ensure that future arrangements maximise the overall public benefit from use of the spectrum and give certainty to incumbent licensees.

The 2300-2302 MHz band is adjacent to the already spectrum-licensed 2.3 GHz band. Reallocating the 2 MHz of bandwidth in the 2300-2302 MHz band will help new technologies to be deployed in the 2.3 GHz band as these technologies use 5 MHz bandwidth channels. The additional 2 MHz will increase the overall spectrum-licensed bandwidth from 98 MHz to 100 MHz.

The closing date for submissions is Wednesday 27 March 2013.

If you make a comment below, we will post it and will respond after the consultation period concludes.
