Meeting future spectrum needs
RadComms08 - ACMA’s second annual conference on spectrum management
The Australian Communications and Media Authority’s second annual conference on spectrum management RadComms08 was held at the Sofitel Melbourne from Wednesday 30 April to Friday 2 May 2008.
The three day conference presented a unique opportunity to hear the latest spectrum developments, participate in open forums and exchange ideas with radiocommunications professionals from across industry and government. As in RadComms06, panel sessions were a feature of the conference, allowing open discussion on contemporary and evolving spectrum issues.
Keynote speakers from both government and industry covered a wide range of topics and contemporary issues including:
- ACMA’s new spectrum planning strategy with discussion on ACMA’s new Spectrum Management Principles and Five-year Spectrum Outlook 2009-2014
- 400 MHz options with discussion on the Spectrum Options: 403-520 MHz paper
- Government spectrum strategies with discussion on the Independent Review of Government Spectrum Holdings
- Contemporary planning issues
Attendants at the conference dinner were treated to a presentation and special performance by renowned Astronomer Dr Fred Watson, Astronomer-in-Charge of the Anglo-Australian Observatory.
