Five-year spectrum outlook 2025–30

The Five-year spectrum outlook (FYSO) 2025–30 covers the 5 financial years from 2025–26 to 2029–30. It provides:

  • an overview of trends that affect spectrum management
  • the factors used to inform our planning and spectrum allocation priorities
  • our annual spectrum work program, with activities and milestones for the 2025–26 financial year.

Each FYSO enables engagement with industry and the community. It helps us set and maintain Australia’s spectrum management priorities.

The FYSO outlines how we are:

  • progressing our approach to spectrum licences due to expire between 2028 and 2032
  • advancing the upper 6 GHz (6425–7125 MHz) band to the implementation stage
  • facilitating regulatory arrangements and spectrum access for satellite communications (including low Earth orbit satellite technologies and the proposed Universal Outdoor Mobile Obligation)
  • progressing the allocation of licences for mobile-satellite service in the 1980–2005 MHz and 2170–2195 MHz bands
  • implementing outcomes from the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023
  • taking part in studies related to the World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 agenda
  • deciding how to implement the ACCC’s new merger regime as it applies to the ACMA’s roles and functions
  • continuing our program of radio planning and allocation activities
  • reviewing radiocommunications instruments due to sunset.
