Cybersmart Detectives feedback

Students Comments

"This was a fun way to learn about internet safety and I loved being able to do it with my friends."

"I didn't realise that there are people out there who can be dangerous to us kids, all Year 6 kids should do the Cybersmart program."

" I learnt that giving out personal information can put you in a tricky situation and that people on the internet are not always who they say they are, playing the Cybersmart detectives games helps you learn this lesson in a fun and adventurous way."

Please thank all those involved in providing the cybersafety detectives activity to our year 6 students. They loved it and were engaged throughout. The key messages were understood by the students. I would highly recommend this to other schools as a great way of promoting cybersafety messages to upper primary. Kids can find 'cybersafety' a little dull and this activity really engaged them.

The kids thought the experience was great. I think they gained a lot of valuable knowledge from the story and are now a lot more aware of the potential dangers out there. I appreciate all the work that goes into presenting something like this. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved.

The students thought it was great and I think it was really well done with the ringing phone and mock profile pages. I believe that if this program was developed into a series of different scenarios that schools would buy it or pay to subscribe to this program, especially with the emphasis on cyberbullying through the media at the moment. Thanks again, it was great!

I thought the scenario was confronting (in a good way though) and really relevant particularly to this age group and considering how prevalent the new modes of communication are amongst kids and teens (chat rooms, email and mobile phones). Cybersmart Detective tied in really well with our previous work and really drove home the messages of protecting ones personal info, not trusting everything you’re told/read on the Web and always checking with a responsible adult when they’re unsure online.

I just want to encourage you. The students loved your presentation and activities today. They were on task for two periods, and that is amazing when working on the same thing for such a long period. I could tell that the Cybersmart Detectives game really related to the students and the way that they enjoyed using computers. Cybersmart is an effective teaching and learning tool that would be great to use again. We all think that you have done a fantastic job!
