Outcome

We have completed the review of the credit betting prohibitions in the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. The report was provided to the Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts on 17 August 2021.

Previous consultation: The issue

The ACMA administers and enforces the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA), including the credit betting prohibitions.

The prohibitions apply to providers of online wagering and telephone betting services.

Under the IGA, we are required to review the credit betting provisions after their first 3 years of operation.

This consultation examines the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the credit betting prohibitions, with a focus on whether the provisions could be simpler, clearer or easier to enforce.
