ACMA media release 24/2012 – 26 April

26 April 2012

New radio services extended to Ravenshoe, Qld and Oberon, NSW

In December 2011, the Australian Communications and Media Authority proposed to make available the FM frequencies 91.3 and 105.5 MHz for use as in-fill transmitters at Ravenshoe, Qld, and Oberon, NSW, for the commercial radio services 4AM Atherton and 2BS Bathurst, respectively.

Following public consultation on the proposal, the ACMA has decided to vary the licence area plans for radio services in Atherton and Bathurst to accommodate these new services.

These changes will increase the number of radio services available in Ravenshoe and Oberon and will also likely increase the coverage of matters of significance and importance to those communities.

They are contained in the Variation to Licence Area Plan - Atherton Radio - No.1 of 2012 and Variation to Licence Area Plan - Bathurst Radio - No.1 of 2012.

These documents are available on the ACMA’s website or by calling 1300 850 115.

More information on the ACMA’s broadcast planning process and LAPs can be found at the ACMA website.
