The ACMA plans the availability of segments of the broadcasting services bands (the radiofrequency spectrum used by AM and FM radio and VHF and UHF television) for analog and digital broadcasting. It can allocate, renew, suspend and cancel broadcasting licences and collect any fees payable for those licences. It also allocates subscription television licences and administers the class licence regime for subscription radio broadcasting and open and subscription narrowcasting services.
