Radiofrequency spectrum planning

Radiofrequency spectrum is the span of electromagnetic frequencies used in communications systems to convey information. It is defined in the Radiocommunications Act 1992 as "the range of frequencies within which radiocommunications are capable of being made".

The types of information that can be transmitted across the spectrum include voice and other sounds, data and video.

Spectrum is used by a wide variety of industries and is a vital component of Australia's communications systems.
