Applying for numbers for VoIP services

0550 numbers

CSPs may submit an application, either online or by mail, to ACMA for an allocation of 10-digit 0550 numbers. The quantity of numbers sought in an application should be equal to (or a multiple of) 1,000.

CSPs may submit applications for quantities of 0550 numbers other than 1000 but must include a justification for the quantity required.

In an application for 0550 numbers a CSP must make a statement that the CSP has had regard to the guidelines in Part 5 of Schedule 7 of the Numbering Plan

Geographic numbers

CSPs may submit an application, either online or by mail, to the ACMA for an allocation of geographic numbers for Local Services using IP telephony. The quantity of numbers sought in an application should comply with ACMA’s Working Supply Policy.

In an application for geographic numbers for IP telephony a CSP must make a statement that the CSP:

  • has taken into account the guidelines in Part 5 of Schedule 7 of the Numbering Plan; and
  • understands the obligations with respect to the use of geographic numbers outlined in sections 3.3 and 3.4 of the Numbering Plan
