Announcement: smartnumbers® prices to change (3 May)

Announcement: Defaulted smartnumbers® returned to auction pool.

Changes to smartnumbers allocation process: On 11 May 2007, the Australian Communications Authority (a predecessor of ACMA) made changes to the arrangements for the allocation of smartnumbers®. The Telecommunications (Freephone and Local Rate Numbers) Allocation Determination 2005 (No. 1) and the Telecommunications (Freephone and Local Rate Numbers - Charities) Allocation Determination 2005 (No. 1), which took effect on 4 March 2005, replace the previous determinations.

The changes to the arrangements for the allocation of smartnumbers® include a change to the payment period for smartnumbers® won at auction and new arrangements for dealing with debts relating to defaulted smartnumbers® where these numbers are subsequently re-auctioned.
