Remote licence area maps

What the maps show

There are seven licence areas classified as Remote. They incorporate outback Australia and other areas not usually included in regional or metropolitan commercial television or commercial radio licence areas. The licence areas are served by a combination of satellite and terrestrial services.

To assist in determining whether a particular locality is within these licence areas, the maps focus on those parts of the remote licence areas that are close to terrestrial broadcasting licence areas. The maps include names of localities identified by Geoscience Australia, in addition to the Urban Centres and Localities (UCLs) recognised by the Australian Bureau of Statistics for the purpose of the Australian Census.

The maps are current as of 1 November 2005.
