Radiofrequency spectrum in Australia

The ACMA plans and manages the radiofrequency spectrum in Australia. It is responsible for compliance with licensing requirements and investigating complaints of interference to services. The ACMA’s role includes:

  • spectrum planning
  • acquiring spectrum
  • apparatus licensing
  • class licensing
  • spectrum licensing
  • frequency assignment and coordination
  • satellite communications and space systems regulations
  • international radiocommunications activities.

NBN Co will use part of the radiofrequency spectrum to supply wireless and satellite services.
